Kathleen Gray is from northern Baltimore County, attended Notre Dame Preparatory on academic scholarship, followed by Loyola University in Baltimore for her Bachelor’s in Psychology. After great experiences in community service and Student Government all four years, she followed a path in Special Education and continued studying her Master’s in this area at Loyola.
Holding certificates in Special Education and General Education, as well as being highly qualified in Social Studies, Math, and Reading, she worked in various schools such as the Forbush School, Norbel, and the longest, 14 years, was at Kennedy Krieger. The experience and knowledge gained from these placements was invaluable and included behavior management, speech and language, occupational therapy, sensory integration, and phonics including Wilson and Orton-Gillingham. In addition, she was the Lead Teacher for the community specializing in therapeutic needs overseeing 7 classrooms and 35+ teachers, assistant teachers, and program aides. She also was part of the first pilot program for the use of iPads in the classroom and was part of the first published research in the area of iPads in education.
In 2013, Kathleen decided to expand her experiences to include more in the general education setting. She began a job as a Special Educator at the Tunbridge Charter School in Baltimore City. Her experiences included push-in and pull-out sessions with students from 2nd through 7th grade and overseeing the PreK-1st grade Special Educator, Lower and Middle School Self-Contained Special Educators. In addition, she was the acting IEP chair, Testing Coordinator, 6th grade advisor, Student Support Team Chairperson, and coach of the National Academic League.
Continuing to expand her experiences, she joined the Bay Family Eye Care team in September of 2015 and works with Dr. Jane Mok as a Visual Therapist. In addition, she is doing community outreach with schools to spread knowledge and awareness of Visual Therapy.
